Faces

People are dynamic and in this, is found strength beyond measure. In the years interacting with different faces we mostly assume, see smiles and an attitude of “put together” “okay” “100% and the little glimpse given to us shows it’s not always straight forward. Individuals are going through personal struggles – work, past, family, self-image, worries, future and when we choose to listen and observe you will feel the strength these individuals possess. My lesson – we don’t know what each of us are going through – don’t assume and be kind. And for all in this world - Thank you for being brave, patient, resilient and an inspiration to many - In your stories and lives lies immense power.

Women and Men

When you see an issue becoming a continuous conversation around you in social media, sit ins, movies and Masjids; one needs to notice and ponder upon - Women and Men have been one of those topics for me. The stories, the why’s, mis-communications & mis-information, debates, different angles of the same story make me shiver sometimes as I see the gap increasing. For any community to develop it starts with the people living there (men and women) to understand, work together and build the future through their individual uniqueness and collective contributions. My lesson; it’s not an us-against-them but a “We”– A “we” that needs to be understood, valued and appreciated. A critical look at what we need to rectify, change and work through as communities and nations.

Journeys

At certain periods of life, I sit back and measure my progress and the last few weeks have been those times. After all the usual thumps up, questioning, failures and changes identified, plans set and regrets to deal with one thing was clear - In some aspects of my life I am moving in acceleration while in others the movement is slower. It’s a collection of many achievements and backdrops. My lesson; don’t amplify and be fixated in one aspect. Life is like a road and your milestones are driving different cars. Some with Ferrari and others are moving with bicycle speed. Make progress on your slower goals and award yourself for your gains – For none should be defined by a single side.

Note to self

Action speaks louder than words; Look for patterns and echoes.

Inspirations

This posts inspiration comes from Will Smith from one of his posts discussing Fault and responsibility "It really doesn’t matter whose fault it is that something is broken, it’s your responsibility to fix it…. Fault and responsibility do not go together…. your heart-your life-your happiness-your responsibility and your responsibility alone. Taking and accepting responsibility is not an admission of guilt…. Taking responsibility is taking your power back”. – Will Smith

Until next time Insha’Allah – Cya
