Life and its lessons (19)

Songs:
Emotions and words are portrayed differently – poetry, songs, humming, writings, sounds are some forms giving us multitude of reflections about ourselves and life. Being Zuhur (and being late on trends sometimes) I discover songs and lyrics years later after there release. One song I came across some days ago had a line which said - “ I found love in you; and I’ve learned to love me too” and it got me thinking - Any relationship, love, friendship, work should not make us lose yourself, but make us love yourself more. My lesson; evaluate if this is true in our lives. If we are growing as a person, rejoice and keep strengthening and refreshing it. If not, look into ways you can bring back the balance.
Thank you to all the beautiful loves that made me to “love me” too

Information and Solutions:
Avid procrastinators like me will know that one of the reasons we give ourselves is that the solution/task is complicated and long - let’s do it later. And every day I get hit in the face with lessons that it’s my mind making up the excuses. Last month I had a problem with my computer (it didn’t want to re-start) and after trying to do the basic run of all things I had to do a YouTube search to get an answer. One video said, “Shake your computer” and it will re-start. I didn’t believe it, but I gave it a try (I was desperate) and to my amusement it worked. My lesson; don’t overthink and seek information for your problems, we have unlikely solutions all around. And when you do get some information or hear an advice, take that leap and try it out. Allah gives answers to our dua’s through different ways.

Corruption:
The world has made indicators, rating and indexes to measure corruption. We see it mostly as system related, complicated, monetary(money) and it turns abstract in some minds. Thinking of my simple individual life; interacting, working, traveling and living – corruption has become more personnel to me. Corruption is also very individual. People can have corrupt intentions, plans and actions. In the name of work, culture, love, business they will justify their corrupted intentions and actions; I stole this money because no one was guarding it, I cheated on the exam because the other candidate cheated, I got angry because I love you too much. My lesson; blame the corrupt person and not their justification. Culture should be beautiful, love does not hurt, stealing and cheating are wrong. Let’s hold each other accountable individually on our corrupt behaviors; as we continue to collectively work at improving the systematic level – They are not mutually exclusive.

Inspirations:
Speaking of songs this posts inspiration is lyrics of an old song; “I am a mountain, I am a tall tree, oh I am a swift wind Sweeping the country; I am a river, Down in the valley, oh I am a vision And I can see clearly; If anybody asks you who I am, just stand up tall, look them in the face and say ........... I am a giant, I am an Eagle, oh I am a lion Down in the jungle; I am a marching band, I am the people, oh I am a helping hand, I am a hero; If anybody asks you who I am, just stand up tall look them in the face and say ............”

Until next time Insha’Allah – Cya
