Life and its Lessons (7)

Means and Ends; Sometimes we are too focused on the means and forget what the end was and other times we are stuck on the end and forget the means/processes. Life recently has shown me it’s important that we work on both – The end is really important but what you do/how you get there is important too. Examples around us include how we spend massive money in decorating houses and our Masjids which makes me admire their beauty but work less on decorating and building the characters, behaviors and visions of the people that inhabit them. And at times we want a healthy body and admire the athletes around us but are not willing to go through the means of routine, pain and healthy eating to get there. My lesson - learn to focus and know your end and go through the right means/processes to get there as well – they are not mutually exclusive.

Accept or leave the “whole”; Most things in life are not 100% bad or 100% good - it’s always a mixture of both. This fact only makes it hard to either hate or love fully and constantly - Things change; Perspectives change. My lesson; it’s always going to be a choice on what we want and how far we want it to go. Once the decision is made we should embrace or let go of “All” - the good and the bad. This gives us permission to love the person or place (even though some history of that was bad) or to let go of the person or place (even though you miss the good).

Hurt, pain and regret; “This too shall pass” – “This too shall pass”

Road blocks: I admire how some people have the ability and instinct to pre-see/predict behaviors and processes (I must admit – I am bad at this). I always wondered why it takes some people years to understand and act upon what takes someone else months. Last few months I got the answer to this – there is a wisdom behind time and all that comes with it. My lesson, people have different roads to get to the same destination – I and you require to go the distance for us to get the point across our heads (sometimes repeated again and again till we choose to see). Our creator knows what we need to grow and learn; so, the flat tire and small accidents along the way to our destination is what I as an individual need to make me stronger and grow. We can connect the dots backwards but forward we need to have hope and courage to keep moving.

Inspiration: Life chapters. This posts inspiration section is a FB pic (shared earlier) of a quote from a book which summaries a lot in one paragraph. “You can’t skip chapters, that’s not how life works. You have to read every line, meet every character. You won’t enjoy all of it. Hell, some chapters will make you cry for weeks. You will read things you don’t want to read, you will have moments when you don’t want the pages to end. But you have to keep going Stories keep the world revolving. Live yours, don’t miss out.

"Until next time Insha’Allah – Cya
