Life and its lessons (9)
Water: I was once asked to describe myself as to what element/object would you have defined yourself with. I remember I said I want to be like “water”. The fluidity of water makes it flow through different surfaces and spaces. It finds directions and a way to flow out; from a small stream to a flood its abundance, impact and mightiness is felt. I want to have much of the characteristics of water. To be able to bounce back after a fall, glade elegantly and bring impact of growth to lands, trees and people. My lesson, in nature we have the best of examples. Even through hard times nature does not choose to be greedy in giving and showing its worth. I hope in my time on this earth, I would have an impact on the lives of people to leave a mark however small.
The power of one: What can a person do alone? A lot indeed. It takes one person to give hope and inspiration to make one believe in people and keep moving ahead and it takes a person that makes one question oneself and take away their confidence. For history has shown it is a person’s effort that have replica effect to create change and inventions. My lesson, please know reactions and behaviors of people always has a story behind them. If you are dealing with a co-worker, friends, family, a love and have seen a change (for the better or for the worst) – know there is a story/reason behind it. Reflect back on your own behaviors, words and reactions – for indeed one person can do a lot.
My world; It’s complicated, and as is the world of many. I live in a world filled with guilt for all the wrong I committed and the tears shed because of me, my Todo’s for people getting longer and my personal Todo’s shorter, where I can do and say a hundred of things but not say the one thing that I need to and a world filled with comparisons and judgements over looks, ways of living, decisions and standards. This duniya/world is meant to have the good and the bad - ups and downs. My lesson, learn to accept the things that you “can” changeand the things you can’t even though it’s hard to do. Learn to accommodate and work on the things you can’t and even more know the power within you on the things you can change. Like Brendon puts it; Acceptance is the opposite of avoidance – Positive, significant and lasting change can happen once we decide to walk through the gates of change.
Inspiration: Mistakes are part of our learning; dwelling on our mistakes forever is not. This is a quote that sums this up: “Today I am who I am, with all of my faults and my mistakes. Tomorrow I might be a tiny bit wiser and that’ll be me too. These faults and mistakes are what I am, making up the brightest stars in the constellations of my life. I have come to love myself for who I am, for who I was and for who I hope to become” - K-Pop band BTS speech
Until next time Insha’Allah – Cya
