Resources

Talent, a natural, diamond mine, treasure, one in a million are words used to explain resources and people. In a recent trip, I visited a natural hot spring in Somaliland with beautiful mountains and water flowing continuously. While we were enjoying the scenery, breeze, company and the water within our feet we also noticed how this natural resource is not being used and wasted and brainstormed how this water can be used, how many people can benefit, and it got me thinking ……….. My lesson; we all have some treasures within us that’s unique – Let it not die within us. Look through what is your treasure and nurture it; don’t get it to waste as the running waters. Maybe when we do work on ourselves, we will also gain the abilities to treasure our countries natural resources.

Away

My new trial is to learn how to be away from things, habits, words and situations. January was the time to test limiting my mobile use and FB. Something that becomes part of you is hard to omit – it’s instinctively programmed in my mind and I wished if I could develop some good habits that become a natural for me. My lesson, everything is hard at first; learning new or letting go of the old everything takes time. I wish I can be patient enough for that process to happen instead of giving up on the new and going back to the old.

Heroes

Iron man, Cinderella, Hulk, Barbie are heroes to our kids and our heroes include Mahatir, Malala, Mandela’s of this world. Biography of Michelle Obama sold out millions within days and I wondered how many unwritten biographies are round us; Our local heroes – Mothers, leaders, innovator, ordinary people which we don’t know much about. My lesson; we might secretly be someone’s hero. Let’s not give up, as we are giving energy and reasons to go on for some around us. Legacy is built one step at a time and Legends are made from what they did and not what they are going to do. My Journey today is building my legacy tomorrow.

Note to self

“The How” of any basic success on implementing lessons, progress and change in life is Discipline – Consistency – Patience. Look for tools, energies and people that help you implement these basics.

Inspirations

This post inspiration comes from one of my favorite teachers Nouman Ali on the energy required to build and break. “To have a beautiful garden takes work. To let a garden be ruined all you have to do is nothing. To have a clean and organized home takes work. To let it become an overwhelming mess all you have to do is nothing. To have a healthy body takes work. For it to deteriorate all you have to do is nothing. To raise a good child takes work. For a child’s goodness to be tainted, all of you have to do is nothing. To have a healthy relationship takes work. To have the relationship weaken all you have to do is nothing. To be good and stay inspired by Allah’s counsel takes work. To let the devil’s whispers take you away from good and be thrown into a negative spiral, all you have to do is nothing.

Until next time Insha’Allah – Cya
